Interview with Our Lady of Bloodshed
Interview with Our Lady of Bloodshed – by George Rock in Woodstock
When I think Our Lady of Bloodshed, what comes to mind is probably one of the most intense live sets you will ever see! This metal band will intrigue you! They are also the most craziest and fun people to hangout with! Our Lady of Bloodshed are Wally Warwick (vocals), Scott Martin (vocals, lead guitar), Mike Sweeton (drums), Mark Shannelly (lead guitar), and Josh St. Denis (bass).
I share my birthday with vocalist Wally and two years we celebrated it together. With a solid gig schedule and a loyal fan base, Our Lady of Bloodshed seems to be one of the most promising up and coming metal bands and there is no doubt in my mind that they will spread their brand of music throughout Canada and beyond!
George: So, Wally, how is this band different from the Our Lady of Bloodshed early years? Wally: I think the major difference is the sound and the line-up. We've changed a guitarist, had four different bassists, and used to have a viola player, but once she quit way back was when we decided to forego any usage of the instrument as it was not necessary to the sound we were seeking. We've also gotten more serious, been on three tours, and done much more. Our most recent tour was our biggest, going to Nova Scotia with Sever The Nile and our best friends Misguided Aggression. George: What do you want to accomplish? Wally: We'd probably like to get signed (laughs). We were recently on a promotional label called Plangency Records, but they closed their doors the other day due to personal reasons. Basically, we're looking to have as many people as possible listen to us, and eventually get a good full-length album put together and released. George: What drives your band? Wally: Usually Mike does, but when he's tired Mark takes over. As far as things beyond the van go, we are driven by a will to succeed, entertain, and make the best music we can. George: If you guys were going to open for a major act; who would you pick? Wally: Well, we have opened for larger acts like Beneath The Massacre, Ion Dissonance, Misery Index, and Neuraxis. I think our next goal would probably be Quo Vadis. George: What was the best show you've played? Any memories? Wally: Well, I can only speak for myself on this one, but I have a few favourites. There was the main day of the Big Bang Festival in Brantford, Ontario, where we played for a packed room and everything went over so well. I think that was the peak for the old line-up. As for the modern day line-up, the best show we've ever played would be pretty well anytime we get together with Misguided Aggression or Endast or the time we played at a nudist park with Hardcore Warrior. Tough call. George: What is Our Lady of Bloodshed's plan for the future? Wally: Well, hopefully continuing on a smooth path toward all of our goals. We hope to put together and record a full length album within a year or so. Whether that happens or not, is up to our schedules, jobs, and obviously, very sadly, money. That seems to be a big issue for us currently, and hopefully, it clears up asap. George: Will you be going on an extensive tour anytime soon? Wally: I would hope so. There's nothing set in stone, but we have talked to a couple of bands about tours this year. We just need to work around our day jobs and the aforementioned money issues. George: Rockstar or Monster? Wally: Monster! George: If you were to go on tour, what would be your favourite food to take? Wally: Chicken balls, and your mom's panties.
