Bio

= Biography =

October Sky is a rock band originating from Montreal that was founded in 2000. Over the years, October Sky has grown from aspiring teenagers to hard working young men. Their sound and drive has grown immensely since the band's conception. The final line-up consists of Karl Raymond (vocals & guitars), Alex Racine (drums), Yanik Rouleau (keyboards) and Andrew Walker (bass).

Things have been busy for October Sky in the last few years since they have come in first place in several competitions such as Exposure and Studio 6ème Sens out of 85 bands. Their self-titled EP was released in 2006 and has sold 1000 copies at their live performances. They spent eight months living in Toronto, gaining a new fan base and became one of the top finalists at Toronto Indie Week. After their return back home to Montreal, they recorded their debut full-length album "Hell isn't My Home".

October Sky's strengths lie in their determination and hard work; everything they have accomplished thus far has been all self-produced. October Sky broke the barriers of self-produced shows for indie bands with their concert at Espace Dell'Arte on May 23, 2008 in Montreal. The sold-out show featured two hours of music, a complex light show, and video effects, including live footage, displayed on large screens. A sample of what a self-produced October Sky show looks like can be seen here. To date, they have self produced five big shows with sell-out crowds of up to 500 people.

The October Sky team has now grown to include a marketing team, publicists, street teams and distribution along with the live show crew, stylist and photographer. This team of almost 20 hard-working individuals and companies will aid in increasing awareness of October Sky and gaining sales in CDs, digital songs, merchandise and live shows.

In the last year, they have launched their official website, online store and Fan Space website. They released their video for "Hit the Ground" which is in rotation on Musique Plus where they had their first TV interview on the popular show "Plus sur Commande" on June 26th. Street teams have been popping up all over the world including different provinces and states in Canada and the US as well as the UK, Poland and Brazil. Role Model Clothing, owned by two of the members of Simple Plan, has become the official sponsor of October Sky which has been very beneficial for the band, while they are the only band to be sponsored by them. October Sky is currently focusing on the release of their full-length album "Hell isn't My Home" in stores on September 2, 2008, as well as the release of their second music video for the single "Hell isn't My Home."
