Bio
Like the town of Athens, Mama's Love is youthful and overflowing with talent. The current line-up came together in Athens in 2006 under the name Funkward Bound, with Torbert and Boyd making trips from Auburn, Ala., to Athens to practice and play. In 2007, all members converged permanently on Athens to concentrate on making music as Mama's Love.
Mama's Love has developed their own blend of catchy original compositions fueled by Galloway's amicable and charismatic vocals, the powerful lead lines of Knox's guitar, Boyd's expertly placed keyboards, and high energy grooves from the rhythm section of Torbert and Atwater. The result has been a full length album entitled "Willow Street Sessions", many hours committed to song-writing and practicing, dozens of concerts, and a fast-growing, loyal fan base. "Willow Street Sessions" was recorded at Starratt Studios in Watkinsville, Ga. during May 2007. It took three weeks in the studio to nail down 12 original tunes, and the feedback from the album has been overwhelmingly positive.
With a well rehearsed and growing arsenal of originals and classic-rock cover songs, Mama's Love is poised to become a crowd favorite in Athens and beyond. The guys have been fortunate to have played with notable national and local acts such as John Popper, RAQ, The Whigs, and Wilx. They have headlined historic Athens' venues, such as Tasty World, The 40 Watt club, and The Georgia Theatre. Mama's Love also performed at The Echo Project Festival in Atlanta where they received raving reviews from fans such as "the best band we've heard in a long time."
Mama's Love seeks to spread their message of good vibes as they develop fans from all over and become one of the most recognizable and sought-after bands on the southeastern music scene. As the band members continue to improve their ability and chemistry, Mama's Love will continue to radiate their sound while turning heads in the music industry.
