Bio
I had the honor of being a member of Canadian rock band The Watchmen for 12 years. Following this, I had a great time rocking through the US and Canada with Thornley. After fifteen plus years of touring around the world playing loud rock and roll shows I decided to turn everything down. Reducing the volume in my life has allowed me to spend time with my wife and kids, write music without concern for others and rediscover my love for the bass.
Last year I recorded a Cd called "Quiet Storey House…an introduction." My buddy John Whynot helped me with the mixing and I really dig the results. If you feel like it you can purchase it online from a variety of sources.
For now I perform a lot of solo shows. Bass and Voice. I have had the opportunity to perform a selection of my songs with the accompaniment of the Toronto and Kitchener/Waterloo symphony – unbelievable. Following this classical hybrid dream takes a lot of time and effort but when it happens it is wonderful. As well, I have a trio consisting of Kevin Young (moist, david usher) and Mike Billiard (the herny's). Occasionally Bill Davenport will join me on 12-string guitar to allow me to sing Men at Work's "Overkill" and Husker Du's "Too Far Down."
Outisde of my original music, I perform vocal and bass arrangements of 80's songs by bands such as: REM, Tears For Fears, David Bowie and as well I delve into the folky side of John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and of course Nick Drake. The live show is a polar opposite to my past, still intense - but totally different. Come out and say hi sometime.

Below are some other people's words about me.
"The debut from the bass player of The Watchmen has a Canadian sound in line with contemporary offerings from some of this country's music hall of famers, namely Tom Cochrane and Bruce Cockburn. This is the type of stuff you'd hear in a (pre-bylaw) smoky bar, with a harsh, heavy domestic beer in your hand, listening to a crooner sing his heart out for truck drivers and seasoned cougars." Bill Alexander – Soundproof Magazine
"His new release, Quiet Storey House...an introduction, shows him to be a fine songwriter and sculptor of sound, and possessor of a gently haunting vocal style. Two cover songs here, NICK DRAKE's : Fly," and TEARS FOR FEARS' "Mad World," reveal some of his influences, and his intelligent ambient style merits wider exposure." Kerry Doole – Tandem (Toronto)
"While he concedes not everyone understands his current bass-centric direction, his experimental project is capturing the essence which characterizes the definition of genuine artistry." Chris McCluskey – The Coast (Halifax)
"With nary a trace of his post-grunge roots showing, Tizzard fits in nicely with the current batch of singer-songwriters." Dave Clark - Scene - London
-"The next time I'm sharing dinner and a bottle of wine with my girl, I will probably slip Quiet Story House... in with Avalon, Let's Get It On, MCMXC a.d, Chet Baker Sings, and Otis – Blue."
-"… All Because of You…has that certain ambiance, a kind of unrequited love thing that works so well in the deep, dark night."
"…this is one smooooth CD. Translation: Ken Tizzard wants you to get laid, and he wants you to listen to him while you do it."
"Tizzard treats his bass guitar like a lead instrument, which adds a kind of surreal jazz effect to these obviously well-written pop songs." Paul Wiggins – Here Magazine – Moncton
And my favorite from the mind of a true wordsmith...
"…dude's not a vocalist." Bryan Borzykowski – Now Magazine
