Bio
A Philadelphia transplant by way of Pittsburgh, Howard Louis comes armed with powerful vocals and a piano. He fuses sounds of rock, alternative, pop, and even flavors of show tunes in his catalog of songs. Louis's brutally honest lyrics are perceptive, biting, self-deprecating, and naked. All of these qualities are crafted over melodic soundscapes that are sometimes dark, sometimes quirky, and sometimes raw and beautiful.
Louis experimented with lyrics and poetry in his teenage years and eventually brought music to his work in college when he began his first band, Howard Louis Band, at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania in 2005. After testing the waters with the band at numerous festivals and events sponsored by the college and local coffeehouses, Louis went on to graduate from school. He began shaping up on his keyboard skills and eventually began performing solo and found new flexibility during shows and in writing music.
Howard Louis has since had gigs at well-known venues such as The Bitter End in New York City and The Fire in Philadelphia. He has also shared the stage with artists such as Nellie McKay for an impromptu mini-concert at her CD release party as well as Tracy Bonham, with whom he performed a duet.
Louis's debut EP (2006) can be purchased through CDBaby.com. Other, newer songs can be heard at his official MySpace. He will release Self-Exhibit, a collection of rough demos, in Spring 2008.
