Bio
Filipps Firma is a wonderful small family business, run by the two brothers Philipp and Pete Quest and their colleague Nils Krenz. Their catchy melodies and emotional songs leave the listener unbelievably comfortable and relaxed while taking in their own brand of acoustic emo pop. The band doesn't use a whole train of machinery and its members are unique and unusual: acoustic guitars instead of amp stacks, a bass pedal instead of a bass player and a digital drummer provide the backline, while keyboards and 2-part harmonies complete the individual and memorable sound.
Since it was founded in the autumn of 2002, the band have played more than 300 concerts and completed two German tours (supported by the VW Sound Foundation). They have impressed listeners in small clubs and pubs all over Germany, from Bielefeld to Berlin. They self-produced two demo CDs and the studio album "Global Player". Their own personal dedication and creativity eventually took them to the limits for an unknown band.
Since the middle of 2007, things have moved quickly for Filipps Firma: The indie label "9a music" found them through myspace and a contract was signed. The result is 12 fresh new tracks on their debut album "To Get There" (2008, 9a Music). The first single from the album, "Sharks", is already receiving good airplay on many German radio stations and at the same time, Filipps Firma is on tour again presenting the songs from the new album live. |
